Salman Khan's grand birthday bash

The who's who from Bollywood attended Salman's birthday bash at his Panvel farmhouse. Here's what transpired at the boisterous celebrations

When it comes to throwing a party, always expect Bollywood folks to come up with a surprise or two. Accordingly, Salman Khan’s birthday bash was full of surprises.

Last night, close buddies from the film industry like Aamir Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala joined Salman at his Panvel farmhouse to celebrate his 48th birthday. The birthday boy, who usually prefers to be with his family and friends, had planned a blast in advance.

An insider shares some information about an annual ritual that takes place without fail. He says, “We all jump into the swimming pool which is a tradition on his birthday. Of course, it happens only when he’s around to celebrate at his farmhouse.”

Another source from Salman’s upcoming film Jai Ho joined the party. On conditions of anonymity, the person says, “There is a long list of people who he has invited and most definitely, they will be those with whom he has been working with. Some of the Bigg Boss contestants, including Armaan Kohli and Salman’s favourite contestant Elli Avram, also feature on his guest list.”

Armaan and Amal Malik, the new singer-composer duo that Salman has introduced in his next were present at the do. Amal, who is all excited to get feedback for his composition says, “We met him with our new songs and a cake. He loves holding music sessions, so we played live for him.”

Another actor, who is a close friend of the actor, reveals a bit about the cuisines available at the event. “There is always a lavish spread when it comes to food at Khan household even if it is at his house or shooting. And his mother takes personal interest when the menu is drawn up.”

Though Aditya Pancholi may not be able to attend the birthday party of the actor, his son Sooraj Pancholi was expected. The young actor was also seen at the trailer launch of Jai Ho recently.

Almost all filmmakers who are making a film with Salman or intend to make a film with him were to be seen at the aforesaid venue. A source reveals, “Director Sooraj Barjatya who returned from Bangalore on Thursday evening was also on the guest list. Salman starts shooting for Sooraj in the second half of next year.”

Some of the other guests are Boney Kapoor (who is producing No Entry Mein Entry with Salman) and Ramesh Taurani (who also has signed Salman for one of his forthcoming films). Director Kabir Khan, who made Ek Tha Tiger last year is co-producing and directing his next film, was on the list.

Filmmaker David Dhawan and his son Varun too were invited. Interestingly, the trailer of David’s next film Main Tera Hero will be attached to Salman Khan’s Jai Ho.

It is also learnt that Aamir Khan has invited Salman to his Panchgani house to celebrate his wedding anniversary. Whether the actor will be able to go due to his tight shooting schedule remains to be seen. 

Bigg Boss 7: Gauhar Khan will do anything to win, says VJ Andy

Evicted contestant Andy has called his once good friend Gauhar Khan as the provoker of fights in the house of "Bigg Boss 7."

The entertainer was ousted from the house on Wednesday as a part of the mid week elimination, which led to Gauhar, Tanisha, Ajaz and Sangram becoming the top four finalist of the show.

Post his exit, Andy has spoken about co-contestant Gauhar, who he believes strictly concentrates on winning. "Gauahar wants to win the game anyhow and she always focused on winning. Whether, it was a task or whether she's a 'sanchalak' (supervisor) in the game, her target is always to win the game. She will do anything to win the game," The Times of India quoted Andy.

"And we all got to know it when we saw the yojna (nomination planning) clip wherein Ajaz was highlighted and was blamed for everything but Gauahar without saying anything directly, actually sent across her message to Ajaz. She doesn't speak directly she actually insinuates people."

Andy's equation with Gauhar has been rough ever since the entertainer got personal and revealed her personal items on national television. The incident further led to the model's boyfriend Kushal Tandon getting violent with Andy, after which Kushal was asked to leave the house.

In the past week, Andy and Gauhar were seen attempting to rekindle their friendship, but things remained cold as Andy termed Gauhar a 'Liar' prior to his eviction from the house.

Regarding Gauhar-Kushal romance, Andy said: "I am nobody to judge, but I find Kushal immature in a lot of ways. He needs to grow up. On the other hand, since I have known Gauahar and the kind of person she is, I don't understand their relationship or them being together," according to Daily News Analysis.

The entertainer's friendly equation with actress Tanisha Mukherjee was one of the positive elements in the house. The duo often played pranks together and were seen comforting each other in times of crisis.

Rooting for the actress' win, he said, "Tanishaa and me were the 'jallad jodi' (evil pair) and in the last three weeks, we started bonding again. She has been through a lot like me, so I want her to win." Andy further explained that Sangram Singh was his next favorite.

Andy evicted from the house of 'Bigg Boss 7'

Mumbai:  Just three days before the grand finale of "Bigg Boss - Saath 7", VJ Andy was evicted from the popular reality show.

He was eliminated in the mid-week eviction on Tuesday night.

Andy, along with the other contestants Gauhar Khan, Ajaz Khan and Tanisha Mukherjee, was nominated for the eviction. Sangram Singh was not a part of the elimination after he chose the mystery briefcase and was selected as the first finalist.

The 33-year-old's journey in the 'Bigg Boss' house saw lots of ups and downs, but one of the major highlights was his fight with actor Kushal Tandon, after which the latter was asked to leave the show.

He maintained a cordial relationship with the other inmates of the show, but he always referred to Sangram as "best friend" and "bhai".

Andy was one of the most entertaining contestants on the show, and was often seen providing comic relief by his tactics, like "Aloo bade kadade".

"Bigg Boss - Saath 7" that went on air Sep 15, took off with 14 celebrities from different walks of life. 

The final four contestants of the show now includes of Gauhar, Ajaz, Sangram, and Tanisha. The grand finale will air on Saturday

Kareena Kapoor becomes the face of Pakistan's mobile company

Bollywood superstar Kareena Kapoor is all set to star in Pakistan's most expensive mobile ad by a leading handset company here.

The 33-year-old 'Heroine' star, who is the brand ambassador of the company, has been signed up by QMobile, the largest selling mobile phone brand in Pakistan.

The actress will soon be seen in a commercial that has been shot in Thailand.

Asked if this was the most expensive ad of Pakistan, QMobile's Chief Marketing Officer Zeeshan Qureshi said, "I cannot say for the whole industry but yes, this is the most expensive form mobile sector."

On being chosen Kareena as the face of the brand, Qureshi told PTI, "Because she is a star and has a huge fan following here."

The other Indian film star to have featured in a Pakistani ad is Juhi Chawla. She endorses a cooking oil.

The Qmobile ad is being directed by Farooq Mannan who is also known as Pakistan's Imtiaz Ali.

Kareena is endorsing QMobile's flagship 'Noir Quadcore Z4 – that has 13MP rear and 5MP front camera, 32 GB internal memory, 2GB RAM, Motion and Air gesture carrying a price tag of PKR 35,000.

QMobile had earlier signed 'Aashiqui 2' famed actor Aditya Roy Kapoor as its Brand Ambassador. The ad was much appreciated in Pakistan.

QMobile – the first Pakistani mobile phone company – has introduced phones packed with high-end features at very competitive prices.

The Karachi-based company was set up by Pervez Akhtar of Allied Electronics Industries – an importer, assembler and distributor of LG products in Pakistan – around five years ago.

Bigg Boss 7: After Kushal's exit, Gauhar packs to leave the show. Gauhar Khan misses her boyfriend immensely and stays aloof

Indian reality show 'Bigg Boss' has consistently been a bag full of surprises - some interesting and others shocking.

With its unexpected twists, temper tantrums, an arrest, romance in bathrooms, the seventh season has been thus far the most controversial of the whole lot.

Small screen actor, Kushal Tandon was ousted from the Bigg Boss house.

The elimination took place in the wee hours of Wednesday morning and since then girlfriend Gauhar Khan is missing her boyfriend immensely and seen to be detached with everyone else.

Fellow contestants VJ Andy and Tanisha Mukherjee (surprisingly) try their best to be sympathetic and nice to her.

Gauhar is not willing to give up the fight just one week before finale.

Even though she muster courage to remain competitive, Gauhar packs her bag and is ready to leave the house.

Everybody else is relaxed and continue with their daily activities but Gauhar collects all her belongings from nook and corner of the house.

It seems Gauhar is set to exit even before the elimination round.

Is this a reaction to what happened with Kushal? Is Kushal's unceremonious ouster indicated that Gauhar might be the next to leave the show?

Afterall Kushal's exit raised a lot of eyebrows.

Audience have questioned this eviction and many suspects the show is rigged.

Last weekend, the host Salman Khan announced that Kushal is safe as he had received the maximum number of votes.

We wonder what happened to all the voters and how can his popularity dip drastically within just 3 days?

After his exit in an interview to Indian newspaper even Kushal raised this issue.

Why was this sudden mid-week elimination conducted so close to the finale?

Gauhar, Kushal and Ajaz were nominated for this week's elimination. It is difficult to believe that television heartthrob Kushal has lost in the battle of popularity.

This game is unpredictable, but going by the trends, someone you don't want might have to bid adieu to the show.

After Kushal and Kamya's eviction Gauhar Khan will be left alone to fight her battle with Armaan Kohli, Andy, Tanisha and Sangram.

So will Gauhar be the next victim to be eliminated from the show?

‘Dhoom 3′ Breaks North American Opening-Day Records For Bollywood Film

Dhoom 3, the action thriller that is also playing like gangbusters in India, is tallying up records in North America this weekend. Opening day estimates on the Bollywood film in 236 theaters are anywhere from $1.75M to $1.9M and it is on track for a $3.5M three-day weekend. That marks the biggest opening ever for a Bollywood title in North America. Dhoom 3 now has the distinction of being the first Bollywood movie to do over $1M on its opening day. It also scored the highest opening gross for any Indian movie, surpassing the previous record holder, Disney‘s UTV love story Chennai Express (which grossed an estimated $745K for its Friday). On Dhoom‘s opening day, it had a per screen average of about $4,500 versusChennai‘s roughly $3,800. This has been a strong year for Bollywood in North America. Before Chennai Express was released, romcom Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani broke into the Top 10 on its June opening with a $1.3M first weekend take. It must be noted that Yash Raj Films‘ Dhoom 3 has the widest release also to date. Dhoom 3, written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra, is considered to be one of the most expensive Indian films of all time and its running time is almost three hours. The high-tech heist actioner shot with Chicago as its backdrop is about a circus star out for revenge when his father dies who goes after the Chicago banker that led to his demise.  The franchise is also playing in India in 45 locations to phenom numbers – translating to $6.1M in U.S. dollars. It is also setting records as the highest opener in Australia, more than doubling the previous Indian film, Jab Tak Hai Jaanand also in the UAE. Dhoom 3 stars Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra, and Katrina Kaif.

Former flames Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif have been named the most searched Bollywood celebrities on Google in 2013.

Salman Khan, who hasn't had a single film release this year, still manages to remain in the news owing to his huge fan following and of course being host on the controversial reality show 'Bigg Boss'.

Katrina Kaif on the other hand apart from being one of the most beautiful women in the country has created quite a buzz with her upcoming film 'Dhoom 3'. The actress has also made headlines this year with her rumoured relationship with Ranbir Kapoor, who takes third place after Shah Rukh Khan.

Shah Rukh Khan, who makes news with every step he takes, celebrated a huge success this year – 'Chennai Express' opposite Deepika Padukone, who took second place after Katrina Kaif, when it came to the ladies. Shah Rukh Khan was also in news for the birth of his third child - son AbRam and his patch up with former foe Salman Khan.

Kareena Kapoor has finally opened up on the much-hyped Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s romantic escapade that have been doing the rounds for quite some time. TheHeroine actor says that there is nothing wrong wearing bikini on a beach. In a recent interview, the Satyagraha actor said, “Holidays are a private affair. Also, if you are on the beach, what else will you wear if not a bikini?”

However, unlike Katrina, who had written an open letter to media for being clicked without her knowledge and calling the photographer a ‘coward’, Kareena thinks the paparazzi should not be blamed because it’s merely a part of their job. Earlier Deepika Padukone had indirectly blamed Katrina of the carelessness over her leaked bikini images.

All we can say is that there is nothing wrong in wearing bikini to a beach. In fact wearing a bikini on the beach is far better than wearing on a magazine cover. So Katrina, take some advice from Kareena and do not over react, after all it’s all merely a part of your job!

Saif hasn't changed, everything is same post marriage: Kareena Kapoor

Actress Kareena Kapoor feels marriage to actor Saif Ali Khan has not changed anything in her life and she hopes the Nawab of Pataudi also remains the same. 

Bollywood star couple Saif and Kareena tied the knot here in October last year after a five-year courtship. "Saif and I were in love and we decided to get married. For us everything is same. Things are going great (in married life). It is just the same even while I was dating Saif... Things are going amazing. Saif is same as before, hopefully he will never change," Kareena told PTI.

"For media and people, it (marriage) seems like a big thing. But in real life it is not like that. There have never been any restrictions. We are surprised when people ask what is the difference after marriage, we fail to understand this as there is no difference. He is in America and we were talking about this thing... it seems surprising," she said.

Though Kareena feels things are same post marriage, there is usually an added responsibility after marriage but for her, singlehood and married life is more or less the same. "Since childhood I was a responsible girl. There was responsibility of the family... First of my mother, then my sister Karisma and now Saif's responsibility. But he (Saif) is pretty much on his own, he is a responsible person, he's quite mature," the 32-year-old actress said.

Kareena believes in giving equal importance to love and work in her life.

"Both (love and work) are equal for me. I have been balancing things. I am an actress who has been open about my relationships. There is nothing wrong in falling in love. "I don't know why people associate love with your career? I don't understand why people ask this? Because love is like the way you breathe air... You love your mother but still you work. I love my mother, family and I still work," she said.

Since her mother-in-law is legendary actress Sharmila Tagore, when asked which films of hers she likes the most, Kareena said she loved her in Amar Prem (1972). "I like Amar Prem a lot, that is my favourite film.

I think that was the best film of hers. I loved her in the film. I won't be part of its remake version as I don't think classics should be remade," she said. On work front, Kareena is looking forward to the release of Prakash Jha's Satyagraha, where she plays the role of a journalist.

"She (my role in the film) is the voice, truth of the film. Because the responsibility of a journalist is to report truth, she sums up everything that takes place in this revolution.

"She is the voice of this revolution. It is the most important part in the film and that is why I wanted to be a part of it. Considering what is happening in the country, this is a very relevant film, it will inspire people," she said. The film has an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Rampal, Ajay Devgn, Manoj Bajpai and Amrita Rao.

"We (Kareena and Bachchan) did two good films together Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Dev and nowSatyagraha. It is a great film. This film has Amit uncle, Arjun Rampal and Ajay Devgn. I have worked with them earlier as well in various films. I have been friends with the entire team of the film, so the atmosphere was great. I had a nice experience working with everyone," she added.
