Want to get up close and personal with your next snapshot(s) or videos? The new stepper motor lens from Canon serves as the first of its kind to offer a suave and almost silent autofocus with the use of STM technology.
With the superzoom, you can record movies without thinking twice about the rackety camera sound. When shooting moving objects, the STM allows for swift evolutions, which namely serves its purpose when shifting among the subjects in motion.
The lens substitutes its precedent (the 55-250mm lens with the same telephoto zoom, but with a larger opening (f/4.5-5.6).
There is a total of twelve groups on the lens consisting of fifteen elements, overall. These are accompanied by a larger zoom range that allows for a 0.85-meter focusing distance.
Photographers have the advantage of avoiding blurred backgrounds by gaining control over the aperture. The Electro Magnetic Diaphragm (EMD) allows for this and works with the Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) lens to get rid of chromatic deviation.
Expect to see the new lens by the end of next month and priced at approximately $545.
