Prince Charles makes Christmas cake for Scottish schoolchildren

Britain's Prince Charles has baked a Christmas cake for Scottish schoolchildren.

The royal heir is continuing on the late Queen Mother's annual tradition of sending a special cake to pupils at Crossroads Primary School, a ritual that dates back to the 50s when his grandmother - who is the current monarch Queen Elizabeth's mother - bought Barrogill Castle as her Highland base on the North coast of Scotland and renamed it the Castle of Mey. 

The Queen Mother presented local pupils with a cake every year, making it even bigger when the school merged with the nearby Crossroads Primary School in order to ensure every child gets a slice. 

Shirley Farquhar, the castle's managing director, told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: 'The children are delighted the tradition is kept alive. The prince's office is sent a picture of the cake, which was decorated at the castle by Jenny Dunnet, and presented to the school in time for everyone to enjoy before the Christmas break. The children each took a slice home with them.'

Charles, 65, has been ensuring the tradition lives on since the Queen Mother's death in 2002. 

This year's festive offering was studded with gold stars and featured the message, 'Merry Christmas', whereas last year's more elaborate affair boasted an edible figurine of the Queen Mother sitting outside the castle with one of her dogs.

Picking up her shiny new toy several days before Santa's arrival, Eva Longoria stopped at Tesla to nab a new ride on Friday (December 20).

The "Desperate Housewives" star wore all black as she leaned over her shiny gray vehicle in a pic posted to her WhoSay account.

Stoked for the purchase, the 38-year-old actress wrote, "Christmas came early for me! Got my new electric car!!! #Tesla."

Making sure she's fully entrenched in the season, Eva headed to a more seasonal climate that day, tweeting, "Bye bye beautiful LA, on my way to snow!!!!"

‘Fast and Furious 7’ Casting of Cody Walker Not Finalized

Fast and Furious 7 is the talk of the town at present. The rumors and speculations are running high with regard to the casting of Cody Walker in the movie. FF7 is an action-adventure flick which revolves around the plot of high speed car racing on the city roads. Rumors that the junior Walker may be cast to fill in for his fallen brother, Paul Walker have not been finalized, and fans are growing restless about the final decision.

Social media is buzzing with the words, “Cody” and “FF7″ and thousands of comments are pouring in. The late star Paul Walker was a truly charismatic hero who drove his fans crazy, especially females. His replacement in Fast and Furious 7 has to have that same charisma and confidence. Cody Walker does have a handsome face, but the heroic body language can only be verified if he actually gets his brother’s part in FF7. The production house, Universal Pictures has commented that shooting on the film will be stopped and they will stand beside the family members as friends.

Paul Walker’s brother Cody has to complement great actors like Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Statham, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Dwayne Johnson. There has been no word from the production house about casting Cody in Fast and Furious 7 so the final decision is still in pending mode. Even as this decision is up in the air, Cody and his mother Cheryl have chosen not to speak to the media which seems to be a wise decision.

In California, Cheryl and Cody were spotted while cleaning out Paul’s home. There were photographs all over the internet a few days ago showing Cody as he was moving clothes from the house to a car. In Santa Barbara, California the whole family gathered to attend the memorial service for Paul. No one in the Walker family has commented about this issue.

Fast and Furious 7 is a hugely popular movie franchise and deciding on the cast is a tough job. A lot of expectations are involved, so if Cody Walker is chosen as its cast, the stuntman will need to put in a lot of hard work. The final scenes will be shot with extreme sensitivity and it is rumored that CGI technology will be used to conceal the facial dissimilarity between Cody and Paul. At the moment it is no more than speculation and no concrete proof  has come forth as to whether Cody will be  cast as Brian  O’Conner for  FF7 or not.

Even though the age difference between them is 15 years, the physical similarities will not be a problem if Cody is finalized in Fast and Furious 7. The Walker brothers, Cody, Paul and Caleb, have facial similarities and Cody has a more similarities with brother Paul in comparison to Caleb. A source close to the Daily Mail commented, “If Cody agrees it’s because he wants to honor his brother’s memory.” Speculations and rumors aside, Universal Pictures has told the British newspaper that the casting of Cody in FF7 is not yet finalized.

Harry Potter actress Emma Watson told to quit acting

Emma Watson was advised to quit acting by her university professor. 

The 23-year-old star - who shot to fame playing Hermione Granger in the 'Harry Potter' franchise when she was just nine - admits she almost considered ditching her career as an actress on the advice of one of her tutors.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly magazine, she said: 'For a while I kind of bought into the hype of, 'Will they ever be able to play anything else?' It gave me a sense of paralysis and stage fright for a while. And then a professor told me that they didn't think I should act, either. 

'So I was really grappling with it and wasn't feeling good about it. And then, I don't know ... it got so bad and people had put me in a box so much that it started p***ing me off. I suddenly wanted to prove them wrong. It gave me fuel, in a way. I'm not sure why that shift happened.'

The brunette beauty credits the script of her 2013 movie 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' for encouraging her to step back into the film industry and assuring her there were roles to challenge her after 'Harry Potter'.

She explained: 'I was really unsure, but then I read the script for 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower', and falling in love with that and then having such a great experience on that movie kind of sealed the deal for me.

'I stopped intellectualising it, and it became much more instinctual. I just got the bug and got very driven all of a sudden, which I really wasn't before. But I'm so happy. It's all felt very new to me, really.'

Ben Affleck set to play Batman in Batman vs. Superman movie

Ben Affleck will don Batman's cape and cowl in the Man of Steel sequel. Warner Bros announced on Thursday (22 August) that the 41-year-old actor-director will star as a new incarnation of the Dark Knight in a film bringing Batman and Superman together. The studio revealed Ben will star opposite Henry Cavill, who is reprising his role as Superman from Man of Steel. The movie will also reunite Man of Steel stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. The big screen DC superhero mash-up was originally announced at last month's Comic-Con International in San Diego by director Zack Snyder. Snyder said in a statement that Ben will provide a counter-balance to Henry's Superman.

Sorry girls Zayn Malik is taken: One Direction's singer tweets about engagement

Zayn Malik is happier than ever since getting engaged to Perrie Edwards. 

The One Direction singer proposed to Perrie, 20, last weekend and took to Twitter to praise his fiancee and thank fans for their well wishes. 

He wrote: 'Never been more happy in my life ! Thank you to everyone that has been so lovely about my engagement to my beautiful fiancé ! Big love z X (sic).'

While Zayn, 20, is over the moon about his new relationship status, he insisted they are currently just enjoying being engaged without worrying about planning the nuptials.

Speaking to 'Today' hosts Samathan Guthrie and Matt Lauer, he said: 'No plans yet! There's not much to say ... we are engaged, really happy.'

The Little Mix singer first sparked speculation she was secretly engaged when she was spotted with a diamond sparkler on her ring finger at her boyfriend's 'One Direction: This Is Us' film premiere in London's Leicester Square earlier this week and her mother Debbie confirmed the news.

She said: 'It's official. I'm over the moon. They are really in love.'

Debbie explained Perrie didn't want to overshadow One Direction's big night during the premiere by making an official announcement.

She said: 'It's wonderful because Zayn is absolutely gorgeous. It's true they got engaged and it's absolutely lovely.

'Perrie loves him to pieces and it's perfect. They get on so well together and understand each other. It's just fabulous.'

The couple first got together in December 2011 after meeting on the set of 'The X Factor' when former contestants One Direction paid a visit to the new crop of singers.

After falling behind Kristen Stewart last year, Angelina Jolie's most recent paychecks have catapulted her to the No. 1 spot on Forbes' list of highest-paid actresses. Jolie took in a reported $33 million between June 2012 and June 2013, despite not having had a single release during that time frame.

Jolie's status as one of the few remaining actresses to collect paychecks consistently larger than $15 million boosts her stature on the list, which Forbes compiled by consulting with agents, managers and other knowledgeable Hollywood honchos. The estimated earnings do not include deductions for "taxes, agent fees or any of the other costs of being a celebrity."

In second place is recent Best Actress winner Jennifer Lawrence, who did not crack the top 10 on 2012's roundup. Her work in "Silver Linings Playbook" and especially "The Hunger Games" netted Lawrence $26 million, placing her ahead of former champ Kristen Stewart, who earned $22 million. Forbes predicts Stewart will fall off the list in years to come, as the 23-year-old actress's upcoming projects don't carry the massive budgets that "Twilight" and "Snow White and the Huntsman" did.

Jennifer Aniston (No. 10 last year) follows closely behind at No. 4, with $20 million in earnings, and Emma Stone rounds out the top 5 with $16 million.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West spend $1m on beds

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are reportedly spending $1.154 million on six luxury beds.

The pair, who are renovating their $11 million Los Angeles mansion following the arrival of their baby daughter North, have enlisted the services of the same company which supplies beds for the five-star, luxury hotel The Savoy in London.

The Savoir Royal State Beds, which are created from a combination of cashmere, carded Virgin lambs' wool and Mongolian horse hair laid over hand tied springs, cost over $192,000 each and provide the utmost comfort for sleepers.

Alistair Hughes, managing director of Savoir Beds, told the MailOnline: 'As a rule we never discuss clients' particular orders. Suffice to say, with a bed like this Kim and Kanye will have little excuse to leave their bedroom.'

There are only 60 of the limited-edition luxury beds available which have been created in honour of Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee, with the design based on what was used by royalty in the 17th and 18th century.

The bed, the headboard and the canopy are all covered in the same gold silk used to create authentic Hermes ties.

Other celebrities who are enjoying the comfort of these beds include Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Sir Elton John and Oprah Winfrey.

While Korean pop sensation Psy's party anthems are no doubt the soundtrack to booze-fueled gatherings across the globe, it turns out that the 35-year-old also has quite an intimate relationship with alcohol.

Psy opened up to the Sunday Times Magazine about his drinking habit saying, "If I'm happy, I'm drinking, if I'm sad, I'm drinking. If it's raining, I'm drinking, if it's sunny, I'm drinking."

The only time he isn't drinking? "When I'm hungover."

This isn't the first time Psy's name has been embroiled in a bit of controversy. In April his "Gentleman" video was banned in South Korea and in December of last year, video of an anti-American performance from the singer surfaced.

Kim Kardashian gives birth to baby girl

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Reality television star Kim Kardashian gave birth to a girl fathered by rapper Kanye West, celebrity magazines People and Us Weekly reported Saturday.

Each magazine posted a story on its website citing an unnamed source in confirming the birth of the daughter to the celebrity couple.

Representatives for Kardashian and West could not immediately be reached for comment.

People magazine said Kardashian, 32, gave birth on Saturday ahead of schedule, with the baby reportedly due in early July.

Kardashian stars with her sisters in the reality show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." She has a clothing line and several product endorsements and was the most-searched person on the Yahoo! in 2012.

Grammy-winning rap star Kanye West and Kardashian began dating in April 2012.

Two months ago Kardashian and her second husband, Kris Humphries of the NBA's Brooklyn Nets, announced they had reached a divorce settlement. They had split 72 days after their August 2011 wedding.

Humphries had first sought an annulment, alleging that Kardashian, who cited irreconcilable difference when filing for divorce, had no intention of keeping to the marriage, which was filmed as part of her reality show.

Pop star Bruno Mars’ mother, Bernadette Hernandez, has died in Hawaii, news wire Associated Press has reported, citing the singer’s publicist from label Atlantic Records.

The Grammy-award winning stars’ 55-year-old mother died on June 1 of a brain aneurysm in a hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, the report added.

The “Just the Way You Are” stars’ mother was a hula dancer living in Hawaii, but was originally from the Philippines. She influenced her son’s interest in music and dance from a young age and served as the inspiration that led him to fame.

'Fast & Furious 6' Blows the Doors Off Holiday Box Office With $122M

"Fast & Furious 6" turned its showdown with "The Hangover Part III" into a blowout, and drove the Memorial Day weekend box office into the record books.

The latest entry in Universal's cars and criminals franchise is roaring to a $122 million four-day haul in its debut, and setting the pace for an overall box office that will top $300 million for the weekend. That easily beats the previous best Memorial Day holiday haul, which was the $276 million rung up in 2011, when "Hangover II" led the pack with $85 million.

"Fast & Furious 6" is proving a global hit, too. It opened No. 1 in 59 foreign markets and took in $158 million abroad this weekend, giving it a three-day global total of $275 million, the studio's best-ever worldwide opening.

"Fast & Furious 6" took in roughly $31 million in North America on Saturday, on the heels of its $38.1 million Friday, to leave its rivals in the dust. The muscle-car sequel dominated, averaging $8,605 on its 3,658 screens. Runner-up "The Hangover Part III" averaged $4,120 per screen in 3,555 theaters.

The finale in Warner Bros. raunchy R-rated comedy franchise laughed its way to $14.6 million Saturday, which left it on pace for a $51 million four-day haul and an overall total of $63 million since it opened Thursday. That's way off the $135 million earned by "The Hangover Part II" during the same stretch in 2011.

"Hangover Part III" begins in foreign campaign in earnest next weekend when it opens in moe than 50 overseas markets, but it's off to a good start. It debuted in the U.K., Australia and New Zealand this weekend, and took in $19.2 million, led by the U.K.'s $9.2 million. 

Going in, the battle between "Fast & Furious 6" and ""Hangover Part III" was seen as a competition for the same demographic target -- young males. The hot car saga with the ethnically diverse cast took that, but also attracted plenty of women -- 49 percent of its audience -- and got a huge boost from Hispanic moviegoers, who made up 32 percent of the crowd.

"After 'Fast Five' performed so strongly, we knew we had something special going," said Universal's head of distribution Nikki Rocco, "but we didn't take anything for granted.  To have a movie opening like this takes the studio, the filmmakers and everyone to come through, and we did."

The huge debut means "Fast & Furious 6" should outstrip the previous highest-grossing entry in the franchise, "Fast Five," which took in $209 million domestically and a whopping $416 million overseas for a $626 million worldwide haul in 2011.  Overall, the "Fast and Furious" franchise has brought in $1.6 billion globally.

"Fast and Furious 6" brings back Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson along with director Justin Lin, who has overseen four of the franchise's films. It also revives fan-favorite Michelle Rodriguez, who was killed off in an earlier segment.

The movie is set in London, and premiered there, an indicator of how the franchise has evolved from its 2001 origins as a street-racing potboiler set in the subculture of East L.A. into an action spectacle on a global scale.

The reviews were strong, particularly for an action film, with a 72 percent positive rating on RottenTomatoes. And audiences were sold as well, giving it an "A" CinemaScore. "Hangover Part III" received a "B" from opening night crowds.

Paramount's "Star Trek Into Darkness," last week's No. 1 movie, was third after taking in $14.6 million Saturday. That translates to a $49 million four-day haul, and puts its overall total at $158 million after two weeks.

The week's other wide opener, Fox's animated family tale "Epic," surged to $13.3 million Saturday and should finish in fourth at around $44 million for the long weekend. Audiences gave the PG movie an "A" CinemaScore.

Disney's blockbuster "Iron Man 3" was next, after a $7.6 million Saturday that projects to a $25 million four-day total. That lifts the domestic total for Disney's Marvel superhero sequel past $367 million, and its worldwide haul to more than $1.14 billion. That moves it into No. 5 on the list of all-time highest-grossing movies worldwide, ahead of "Transformers: Dark of the Moon."

"The Great Gatsby" was in sixth, after a $5.1 million Saturday that put the glitzy adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel on track for a $17.2 million four-day take. Last week it became the first of director Baz Luhrmann's movies to hit the $100 million mark at the box office, and its total now stands at $118 million for Warner Bros.

Gwyneth Paltrow is a fan of dark eye make-up to get a 'cool, slightly undone' look.

The Oscar-winning actress is the creative inspiration for beauty brand Max Factor's new campaigns.

The celebrity blogger shared her beauty essentials and tips for creating a hot and on-trend make-up look.

'I love that cool, slightly undone look you get with a dark, smudgy eye,' Gwyneth told Stylist magazine. 'You see that a lot in London, there's a really cool vibe here at the moment where the look is glam, but a little edgier.'

The star said the key to getting your make-up spot on is to focus on a few signature looks. In her new Max Factor campaign, she worked with make-up artist Pat McGrath to create a modern businesswoman look for the shoot.

'I'm a big fan of a simple red lip teamed with fresh skin, like the businesswoman look in the campaign,' she continued. 'I think it's a strong statement and a really good look for me personally. I change things up on a night out by wearing a smokey eye.'

Gwyneth finished by dispelling the myth that blondes have more fun. The naturally fair actress says in fact being golden haired can be a hindrance to your enjoyment rather than help.

'I don't understand the whole idea of blondes having more fun. I'd say brunettes have more fun as they can go under the radar a little bit more,' she laughed. 'People are just waiting for blondes to get drunk and fall down, because we're so visible.'
